The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
I use a lot of announcements and copy them from course to course. Is there a way to adjust the 'delay posting' dates for all the announcements in one place (without having to go in and edit each announcement individually)?
Thanks - couldn't find this answer so far in the guides or Q&A.

Hey @bridget_arend
There isn't a feature for this at this time. The following idea conversation may have share some insights for ya.

Any updated solution(s) to this issue?
This request has been pending for four years now, but Canvas has not yet made any changes to the announcement posting process. There must be a simpler way to bulk edit the announcement posting date.
I'm not sure if either of you use the Cidi Labs Design Tools / DesignPLUS integration (this is a paid add-on product) with Canvas, but there is a "Multi Tool" included with that software which allow you to bulk change dates for assignments and for announcements. Here is a video for your reference:
Renee or anyone at Canvas,
The request to bulk edit announcement dates especially and other course dates aside from assignments has been around since 2015! We are coming up on the ten year anniversary.
Why does this keep getting marked as complete with no solution?
Please reply.
Thank you,
Tandy

The request to bulk edit announcements was started at least in 2015. There is a new release pending for announcements, but it seems to only include start/end dates and marking "read" and nothing about bulk editing all announcements at the same time. Here are those notes, which do NOT include bulk editing: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Releases/Canvas-Deploy-Notes-2024-07-03/ta-p/607000#toc-hI...
Here is the Related 2018 Theme: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Ideas/Announcements-Bulk-Editing-Options/idi-p/365006#comm... but again this is listed in multiple problems, requests and questions!!! since 2015 or prior.
There are also multiple requests under ideas/themes for the ability to edit dates in bulk in ANY area of Canvas aside from assignments, which exits. Here is a link to that theme: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Ideas/Course-Import-Export-Bulk-Date-Management/idi-p/5922...
How many times with this be "relabeled" and "renamed" and marked "complete" before it gets addressed?? Why isn't there a way to bulk edit ALL announcements and release dates within Canvas?
Thank you,
Tandy
Hi @tillingt ...
I don't necessarily have any insights on the "why" question, but I wanted to also include a link to the overall Theme for this...which you can find at: Improved functionality for course announcements - Instructure Community - 554688 (canvaslms.com). As you can see, this Theme has a status of "Identified"...which you can read more about here: How do Ideas and Themes work in the Instructure Co... - Instructure Community - 2980 (canvaslms.com).
Now, this next part is something I had mentioned back in mid February 2024 (see my posting above). I know that not every school has purchased the DesignPLUS toolset from Cidi Labs, but if you do have this, their "Multi Tool" does allow for bulk updating announcements. But DesignPLUS is so much more than just a tool to bulk edit dates for assingments and announcements. If you don't have DesignPLUS, you might want to talk with your school's Canvas admin team to see if it might be an option for you now or down the road.
