I am hoping to track the usage of some content I added to the Commons. Is there a way to do this? I searched the message board but didn't see anything recent.

The only thing I'm aware of is a new feature in Commons > Admin > Stats, that will show you the number of times the content was downloaded. Beyond that the information is pretty sparse. I'm not even sure if Canvas stores where a courses content comes from, which would be helpful.

I have been working to track our content using the information from that page and Canvas Data to try and identify courses that are using our commons content. It is a slow and cumbersome process that has involved cleaning up all the commons (and before commons course masters) by adding naming conventions and using the existing fields in the UI and Canvas Data.

Would love something better, or any tips.

Can you clarify what you mean by 'provide this content to students'. Are you looking to share Commons use stats to students, or just reeeally want to track what courses are loaded with that content?

Commons is probably the most efficient way to share content from a creator to an instructor who wants to import content to their course. Blueprint courses can also be used to push content from a Blueprint to courses, keeping them updated. I'm not sure if Blueprint offers a way to see which courses are using it's content... I'll yield to anyone else who can answer that.

I am a librarian who liaises with our College of Nursing and Health Innovation. I have created some instructional content on advanced literature searching, with a focus on grad students and faculty. We had hoped to have the instructional content in Canvas. However, we need to be able to track usage (individual page clicks, results of self-directed quizzes, etc).

I am not familiar with Blueprint, but it sounds like it is a course shell. If I am able to view analytics through a blueprint course, then that would be quite useful. Thank you for that suggestion. I will do some further investigating.

I'm not going to be able to help much here.

I have only used blueprint to test things for other people in the Community, but there is an API endpoint to list which courses are tied to a blueprint master: Get associated course information.

My only foray into Commons was trying to help with the sort/search of the content and electrocuting elephants.

Hi, I haven't been able to find a response to my question but I believe it's close in nature to what OP asked. Is there a way to see the dates a Commons module was imported? For assessment, I want to see within a three-month span how many times the module was imported. Currently, I have to manually track this (i.e., I write down a day with the current number of imports and then the next month I'll do it again).
