If you are asking about how to set up an assignment in Canvas so that you can accept submissions from your students, then I would recommend first checking out this video tutorial:

I know how to create assignments and I created the assignments. Students did not submit the assignment in canvas they submitted in a google drive. Now I want to mark it as received and grade it

You can always give them a grade in Screengrader for their work, but you'll still see this message: 

This student does not have a submission for this assignment

If you have set up requirements and/or prerequisites for your modules, this will be an issue. If you haven't, then there is no real problem.
