Hi,
We understand that this is not email, but a lot of the questions we get are things that can easily be answered in our signatures.
--Where's your office?
-Can I call you?
-Can I make an appointment?
Yes--we can and do provide the answers to those questions in obvious places in our courses (the syllabus for one--- but I have an FAQ module that has a page "How do I contact you?" and "How do I make an appointment?" as well as repeat it several times throughout the course.) However, students don't go into the courses anymore. They work from the calendar, or the To-Do list. (They never read and/or remember what they read the syllabus to begin with.) It would be helpful to me to have a saved signature, so I don't have to go hunting for those tidbits of information and links that I have in my normal email signature... Maybe I could even shorten it to just be my Canvas profile page--where most of my stuff is written anyway.
Additionally, while we can send email notifications to our work emails, I'm sure that I can speak for lots of the other faculty when I say-- we get hundreds of worthless emails a day--from vendors, superfluous and redundant things from several tiers of administration, committees, colleagues, organizations, etc., I like having a spot where it's just me and the students--where I can focus on them.
**My Signature**
