It's harder for primary grades to adopt Canvas; however, I have had some awesome elementary teachers create some awesome content.
They basically are using pages and link them to icons/images, they are manly using Canvas as supplemental to what they do and to keep parent's informed.

I always think it is important when using Canvas with K-4 that "the intent" should really be thought of first.
While now I am an SE for Instructure, I came from a teaching background. For me in these younger age groups my intent's were:
So, while my screenshot is not a "live" classroom. It is built to demonstrate these two goals.
I also encourage schools who can to also think about the skinning/branding of their canvas sites. I have helped several schools down here in Australia (where I am based) to build a specialised style that is both engaging for the student as well as showing the school name. Just something else to think about
