[ARCHIVED] Change Category in Canvas Gradebook?

How do I change the category in the gradebook for Exams.  Right now, in the gradebook, Exam (Quizzes) categorized as an assignment.  They are not an assignment.  Is there a way to change the category for exams to Exams or Quizzes.  I do have an assignment and it will be included with the exams.  I would really like to have a separate category.  Help please.

Hi Nina ~

There's a chance that the group already exists. You can check that by looking at the assignment groups listed in your course. If it's there, you can select which group the quiz is saved in by dragging and dropping it from the Assignments page OR by adjusting it in the quiz settings-- on the same page where you enter the details about the quiz, its points, the due date, etc.

Thanks Kristin, but no cigar.  Unfortunately, there are only two categories:  assignments & discussions.  Quizzes/Exams are falling under the assignment category when the average for this group is calculated.  I wish there is a way to create another category for exams/quizzes....but unfortunately, I just can't find it.

Hi ninalbennett

If you follow the guide that  @KristinL  provided, it will tell you how to create whatever kind and numbers of assignment groups (categories) that you desire in a course.

Go to the Assignments page, and click the +Group button to add a new group..

Add all the groups you want, naming them whatever you want, then drag & drop the quizzes, exams, assignments and discussions into whichever group you wish them to be in. Additionally, you can create new assignment within a group, or simply choose the group you want an assignment to be in from the Assignment's Settings page. Here is a shot from one of my sandboxes of some Groups create just to show you..........
