The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
The new Comment Library feature is great, but it would be more helpful if we could have more than one library. It would be ideal to have different ones based on assignment type.

Good evening, @cadman_shane ...
It almost sounds like you are wanting to submit a Feature Idea rather than asking a question here? If you are suggesting a way to change the current behavior of canned comments in the SpeedGrader, then I would recommend that you create a new Feature Idea here in the Community. Here are some documents to help get you started in the Feature Idea process:
I hope these resources will be of some help to you! Good luck.

Thanks @Chris_Hofer. I guess I was asking and suggesting at the same time. I'll look into the feature request option and see what I can do. Much appreciated!
I'm posting a link here in case it can save others who encounter this conversation another 10 min looking for whether/where this idea exists in the Idea Suggestions forum. It looks like it's been submitted in 2 places: first, the ability to group comments by assignment, and the ability to group comments within the library. Either solution seems like it would solve for the comment library getting lengthy and unwieldy very early in the course.
