Hi all
We need our lecturers to be able to add personal notes about their students somewhere on Canvas.
Is there a Canvas builtin functionality or any App that let lecturers to add notes about the students?
I am thinking of something like a diary about a students which is only accessible by the lecturer and not by the student.
It could be a field in the student profile.
Does anyone know anything that provides a functionality like this on Canvas?
Cheers

@Bobby-Nourani Our Dropout Detective analytics solution is an overall student performance / retention tool and it includes a Notes function. The notes are tied to the student record and viewable at the course and account levels. So instructors could share notes about a student with advisors, as well as place a student on "alert."
It's not a diary but yes, the trainer can add a private note to each student through the Gradebook.
These notes are only visible to the trainer through gradebook
Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes but this is in the course level. We need something in the account level.
cheers
There is no such function at the account level, at least through the User Interface (UI)
But you can add custom data/note to each student profile through Canvas API (https://canvas.instructure.com/doc/api/users.html#method.custom_data.set_data). However, you will need to develop an external application to create or view the data
