Can I omit items from the Course Syllabus listing (besides just deleting them)?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi Charles,
Are you wanting to omit items from the Course Syllabus because you don't want students to see them? If so, unpublishing is enough. I learned this through trial and error, but instructors will see unpublished items in the Course Summary section of the Syllabus area even though students can't. But I haven't found a way to omit items from an instructor's view of the course summary.

Nicholas,
Thank you so much! I often forget that Student view is different from my Instructor view!!! Duh! So you are very right, those unpublished assignments don't show up in the Syllabus under Student View, so it's doing exactly as I want it to: Keep some assignments for possible future use, but omit them from Syllabus until then. (I've never used the Syllabus feature before, because I of course hand out my own actual syllabus for the class, but I now realize that what they call "Syllabus" is at least a convenient listing of assignment/due dates that students can check).
Thank you!
charles
Great - this is what I was hoping! ![]()
This may have worked previously, but "unpublishing" does not remedy the problem now - even when I check Student View. Any suggestions? I have unpublished entire modules and things are showing up that I am either not using this quarter or that I haven't adjusted the date for yet. Additionally, past Zoom meetings are showing up 😞
Hi @Elisabeth-AnneM,
Did you just unpublish the module items are in, or the items themselves as well? I think you need to unpublish the items to remove them from the syllabus (even though the students won't be able to access them in a unpublished module, they'd see the listing on the syllabus).
As for the Zoom sessions, you'll likely need to delete those from the course calendar manually. While the course calendar is great for students, events in particular seem to be somewhat of a pain when doing an import, as you often end up with things on the wrong dates, or things that don't apply to the new course.
