[ARCHIVED] Creating an RSS feed of Course Activity

We are looking into ways to display the activity that occurs in one of our courses publicly.  Much like a student gets notifications, we'd like to push those notifications out to a public website.  I've been looking into what I can do via an RSS feed however besides announcements, I'm not seeing much.

Does anyone have experience or ideas about how to create an RSS feed based on course activity?

There are APIs that allow you to retrieve the course activity, however they are all specific to a user. Having a generic "Activity Publish" user that is enrolled in the course you wish to publish and then using the API to convert the events into entries in an RSS feed would probably work, although it would require some development effort.
