Hello,
I am wondering if any other schools have had reports of discussion replies not saving? For example, student or instructor clicks on reply underneath a post, enters text or copies and paste from external editor, user clicks on 'post reply', and then the 'saving reply' bar never goes away. Refreshing the screen does not allow you to see the reply, thus the user has to start over. Has anyone seen this or have ideas as to why this might happen? It is very sporadic in nature.
Thank you,
Shane

It seems that this is related to the users Safari cache. He's been fine since resetting the cache.
@shane_ohara , this is probably a silly question, but what browser are they using and is it updated? When we see strange things like this it is usually browser related. Have the people switched to a different browser (Firefox or Chrome) and experienced the same problem?
Hi @kona ,
Thank you for replying. The user in question today is on Mac OS X 10.10.2 w/Safari 8.0.4. He is going to update to the latest and greatest, but I am not convinced that this will help based on the Which browsers does Canvas support? article. I am reluctant to push Chrome heavily (even though I use) because of the upcoming NPAPI end of life, but did ask that he give Firefox a go if Safari remains the issue.
Much appreciated,
Shane
A couple people in the Community have said that they've had a lot of issues with Safari, and that Firefox seems to work better for their Mac users. I've never experienced this myself though, so that's completely anecdotal.
Let us know if switching and/or updating browsers seems to work.

It’s so frustrating g that work for my class is not posting
I recently came across this problem and found that if a student tries to post an extremely long piece of text, the reply won't save. The text took up 21 pages in a Word doc. I split the post roughly in half and it finally saved.
I am always leery of pasting formatted text / Word text into any internet-based editor. I've seen all sorts of errors in various applications that don't happen with the formatting is stripped out first. YMMV, of course.
Did you call Canvas support and open a ticket?
