Hi,

I'm interested in using the list enrollments API to grab a snapshot of each student's current grade in a course.  I'd like to compare snapshots taken at periodic intervals to detect when a student's grade has changed.  The currentPoints field of the Grade object seems like it will work for this purpose in most cases, except for when a student receives a grade of 0 on an assignment (currentPoints won't increase).

To detect a score of 0, it seems like the currentScore field would help -- receiving a 0 on an assignment, while not changing currentPoints, would almost certainly decrease currentScore.  However, I've noticed that the currentScore field is missing (null) if there is one or more ungraded assignments.  Many instructors create all of a course's assignments at the beginning of the semester, so throughout the semester the currentScore field will be useless.  Is there a way to get the currentScore field, ignoring ungraded assignments?

While you can use the list enrollments API to get the current score, I have found it easier and more useful to use the Grade Export report in the Admin tab to pull this information. It gives you the current score that reflects the score of the student in the course based upon the grades entered and a final score that shows the score in the course where any thing not graded is treated as a 0.

The grade export report data sounds like exactly what I want: a current score that reflects a student's score based only upon grades that have been entered. However, I'm working in the context of an application so it's a requirement that I'm able to obtain that data programatically through the Canvas API.

Is there some setting or configuration, either on the course or API, that can be used to make the currentScore field indicate the student's score among only graded assignments instead of being null whenever there are ungraded assignments?
