I am and English teacher working for our district to put curriculum online. I am wondering if there is a way to autograde simple assignments like quickwrites and reflections based on word count. I'm also interested in whatever else can be autograded to help simplify the grading process for our English teachers.

Hi @mark_olsen , thanks for this great question. You got me thinking!
A few ideas come to mind:
- get the students to self assess their own work then submit the piece as well as their own assessment. The teacher need not read the written piece but keep an eye on the goals the student has set for themselves. Time to self reflect then self adjust. Pearl of Wisdom in Sydney
- peer reviews, students could assess each other's work. How do I use peer review assignments in a course?
- showcase writing using tools like Padlet, or collaborations. Not everything needs to be assessed.
That will take a bit of pressure off the teachers.
Hope that helps.
