I completely understand that OneRoster is limited to assignment level passback.
In fact it is not a course grade passback. it is an assignment score passback. there is not a course grade anywhere in the sync.
Will Instructure or Canvas ever offer a solution that simply passes back the grade of record between systems? (I really don;t care if the solution is OneRoster or something else) Are there other SIS systems that we should consider switching to that would accommodate an overall grade sync.
In order to use the current option we have to limit the way that instructors use Canvas, because the SIS system will not accept differentiated assignments from canvas.
There are APIs for retrieving the overall course grade, such as the Enrollments API https://canvas.instructure.com/doc/api/enrollments.html
Several SIS integrations retrieve final grade data from Canvas and pass it back to the SIS. For instance, the PeopleSoft Integration https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/PeopleSoft-and-Canvas/PeopleSoft-Oracle-Integration-Overview/ta-p... is one that does course grade passbook, presumably using that Enrollments API.
The integration with PeopleSoft is exactly what we are looking for.
Except that it has to exist for Infinite Campus. In our state, Iowa, we are limited to using a state approved vendor. Infinite Campus and Powerschool are the only two options available to us... both only support assignment level data.
Can anyone recommend a way to go about developing a similar integrate between Canvas and Infinite Campus.
thanks for the awesome information.
