A student was having technical difficulties and I need to reset the midterm for him. Help!!!!

Cynthia,
You can't clear an attempt but you can give this student an additional attempt. This is actually nice because it preserves what happened the first time in case you need to refer back to it. Here is a guide about how to provide an additional attempt to a student https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-26235-once-i-publish-a-quiz-how-can-i-give-my-students-extr...

As far as I know, there is no plan to allow instructors to "clear" exam attempts for students. It's easy to add an "extra attempt," and there is value to keeping a record of all exam attempts.
And, "clearing" the student's first exam attempt doesn't help with test security. If you make the answers immediately available, then the student could simply take screenshots after the first submission before you've had a chance to "clear" it.
Instead, just set up your Quizzes so that the correct answers are made available to your students at a later day and time after everyone has taken the Quiz.

I don't have any of the buttons/controls you show in the tutorial - can't look at resuts, can't moderate. This was not useful at all.
Never mind, they just do not show up in edit mode.
Are there any plans to change this function in Canvas? When a student has a technical issue with a quiz or exam, they can see the right answers for questions they did not complete after submitting the quiz or when the answers are released. If we (instructors) are not online between when the student informs us of the issue and when the answers are released, they see everything. It's not fair to other students that the one with the technical issue has access to all the correct answers after the due date and can get all the remaining questions right if we give them another attempt and extra time. Having the ability to clear the first attempt and give the student a completely new exam or quiz is needed, especially for the quizzes or exams where there are banks of questions.
