I have a student that was in a section with another TA but is now in my section.

I have had a look around for the best advice and this thread How do I move students between sections? brings up exactly the thoughts which came to my mind.

I would recommend having a read of that (and contacting your Canvas admin first) as your school/institution may automate this in which they would prefer to fix things on their end.

If they are OK with it, you can follow Nicholas's last step which is 'Under People [in your course], you will be able to assign students to a section using the "Edit Sections" option under the gear associated with each student.'

That link is broken due to the change to the new forum.  Unfortunately, the post has @stuart_ryan wording for the title.  If the link had the original wording of the title for the post, you could search on it and pull it up in the new forum.

The answer to this question really depends on what you mean by move the student from one section to another.

1) if the two sections are cross listed, then the answer is in this forum post: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Question-Forum/Transfer-a-student-to-a-different-Section/m...

2) if the two sections are not cross listed, then the student needs to go through the schools registration system and drop the one section and add the other section - in which case the student enrollment in the sections is handled automatically - I would however get the grades from the first section saved before performing this action.
