[ARCHIVED] Issues with Student Submissions on IOS App

Students are accessing Canvas via the iOS App. Students are opening an assignment that normally contains a PDF for students to annotate. Using the markup features built within the Canvas Student app, students insert text, draw, etc. When the students go to submit the assignment, they click on the share icon and select Submit Assignment.

In some cases, students receive a Successful Submission notification within a few seconds. Other times, nothing happens. We have tested the following:

  • Repeating the steps mentioned above... sometimes after the 3rd or 4th try the submission will be successful
  • Downloading the submission to another app (like Pages) and submitting from Pages... that was successful
  • Take a screenshot(s) of the annotated PDF and submitting from the camera roll... that was successful

Our iPads are running the latest iOS and the Canvas Student App is up to date. We piloted Canvas with a few teachers last Spring and had no issues related to this. Ideally, we would like for our students to use the markup tools with the Canvas Student app and submit within the app.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Any thoughts or possible solutions would be appreciated!

Thank you!
