[ARCHIVED] Links to doc files won't open for students

I am assisting another professor on her course.  She has word doc links in some of the assignments for students.  When I view them in her student view, they open just fine with Microsoft Word.  When the student's attempt to open, they get an error message that says the link in part of an unpublished module.  The modules are published and I have redone the links.  I've had the students clear their cookies, cache, and history in their browsers.  Am I missing something?

If you have confirmed that the content item and the module are both published, have you also confirmed that the MS Word document you are linking to in the course is also published in the "Files" area of the course?  See the Set File Access section in this Guide: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12745-4152314032  Please let Community members know how we can be of further help, Constance.  Thanks!
