New to Canvas, previously used Google Classroom. I teach 8th grade social studies. There are are four of us in my school teaching 8th grade SS (mix of regular and advanced classes). Is there a way to set up a sandbox course where we can build common lessons, announcements, etc. and then export things to each of our individual Canvas courses? Is there a way to make a Page and/or Assignment in one of my course, and copy it over to my other courses? In Google Classroom, I could post one Assignment, Announcement, etc. to all my classes (courses) at once. We don't want to cross-list if we don't have to. Thanks for help guiding us through this!
Hello @davidkitchen ...
All of this sounds entirely possible. Yes, you can have a single sandbox course and have all of your colleagues enrolled in that course to work on content. Or, each of you could get your own sandbox course (you never know...your colleagues might want to use their sandbox course to create content for other courses, too). However you choose to do that, you'll want to reach out to your school's local Canvas administrator or someone at your school's Online Learning/eLearning department who can help you get that sandbox course set up and the enrollments populated into the course. Once you all are ready to copy/import that content from your sandbox course(s) to the actual courses, you can carry out the instructions in either of these Guides:
As you carry out the steps in these Guides, make sure you are logged into your actual courses and not the sandbox course(s). When in the actual course, you'll be selecting the sandbox course. Make sure that you are enrolled in both your actual course and the sandbox course as instructors.
I hope this will help a bit. Let Community members know if you have any other questions....thanks! Stay safe, and be well.
