Can I add a progress bar into a course to indicate to the student how far along they are in the course content?

There is not a Canvas tool that will give you a progress bar that students can see. I would recommend looking around in Instructional Designers, or Canvas Developers to see if someone has something similar to what you are looking for.

There is a product from CIDI Labs called DesignPLUS, and it has a bunch of design elements. One thing you can do is add progress bars to your course content. Here's a couple examples of what it might look like:

I was a Canvas user and then discovered Cidi Labs add-on....now full disclosure, I have joined the team at Cidi Labs because of how our add-on powers up the design experience in Canvas. Yes, you can add rad elements like Progress Indicators directly to a page which will dynamically update based on your module items and module completion requirements. It's pretty rad.
