Thank you. Yes, Readspeaker is a text-to-speech provider that partners with Canvas. My institution currently isn't using it, because of hesitancy over certain features, like those I mentioned above. Instructors would feel better if they were able to control which specific Readspeaker features were enabled in their individual courses. For example, one teacher could enable all functions, while another could opt to disable the dictionary.
Since I first posted this question, I have learned from Readspeaker reps that this kind of individualized control is possible, but Canvas has been uninterested in implementing it at the present time.
