how do i remove an assignment from a sudent that has been sent in the wrong one?

Howdy  @norma_balboa ‌,

For most assignments, students may submit as many times as they like. If they submit the wrong one- just have them re-submit the correct one to the dropbox. When you are grading, the most current assignment submitted will show first.

Sorry, this does not answer the question! We limit our assignments to 2 attempts. A student made a mistake, and I just want to remove what he uploaded. I am astounded that the teacher cannot remove the incorrect assignment file!

Unfortunately, the answer today is that assignment submissions cannot be moved from one assignment to another.  Though, I do agree with you that having this capability in Canvas would be super helpful.  The Feature Ideas that @valentinesking linked to are current conversations where you can participate in them to let Instructure know why these would be important to you.

If you feel that either or both of these Feature Ideas align with something you'd like to see implemented, then you can give either a star rating and also post a comment why it would be important to you.  Giving examples helps Instructure better understand use-case examples.

There are many of us who would love to see Canvas allow us, as Instructors, to delete student submissions.
