[ARCHIVED] Removing Old Assignments From Student View

How do I remove assignments and quizzes from the student's To Do list and Grades links? We are in the third quarter and many students have an incredibly long list of completed and incomplete work in their To Do list and in their grades. You can't "unpublish" them because there have been student submissions and going through individually to delete the due dates would take forever.

For the to-do lists, students can correct their own list: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Student-Guide/How-do-I-use-the-To-Do-list-and-sidebar-in-the-Dash...  The student view of the to-do list has a little x next to every item, and they can click each one to remove it from the list as they go.  There is no need to wait for the list to add up.

In the meantime you can possibly edit the assignments at the end of a quarter to grade type "not graded."  I would be careful to save a copy of the grades and feedback of the first student before you do that for, so that you can restore anything that might be deleted, just in case.  If the grade and feedback and submission are all saved despite the change to no grade, then this should remove it from their, and your, gradebook.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate the feedback and had found the "Hide" option after I posted. I don't want to delete any grades, but hiding prior assignments from the first two quarters would be ideal. The trouble now is that I have to go to EVERY assignment in every subject and hide them. I'd have to do it over 50 times. That's still easier than editing each assignment's due date or change the type to "Not Graded." Canvas can be a little clunky. 

As teachers we have the option to filter our gradebook by quarter. I was hoping there was an option like that on the student end.
