[ARCHIVED] Rubric Component scores download

I am using a rubric to grade assignments.  How do i download the rubric component scores associated with each assignment and each student in an excel file?

For instance, i have a 3 component rubric that can range from 1-4.   A student can get a grade ranging from 0-12, but i want to see the data for each component.

Joe    Assignment 1  Rubric component 1 Rubric component 2 Rubric component 3

Hi  @james11  Welcome  to the Canvas Community. You ask a great question, and unfortunately the answer is that you cannot currently do this. I know of at least one person at my own institution who would like something like this yesterday.  There IS a Feature Idea that I encourage you to vote up for and comment upon, even though Canvas has indicated it is not in their immediate plans:  https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/1275-download-assignment-comments-and-completed-rubrics .

The closest you can come to downloading anything within rubrics is through Outcomes, specifically subaccount/departmental based Outcomes which a Canvas administrator can then run a report on through a .csv file.  These outcomes are first imported into a course and then used within a rubric, as covered here: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13127-415267952  (Your local Canvas administrator or someone with more access would need to get involved. ) You might also want to think about the Learning Mastery Gradebook, which is covered starting here: How do I use the Learning Mastery Gradebook to view outcome results in a course? The latter will at least provide you, as the instructor, with a way to eyeball the results.

Hi Ken,

Thanks so much for your reply, it actually helps quite a bit. It’s always good to know that something is NOT out there; rather than me just not being able to find it, which results in a lot of time looking. I did find the suggestion that you mentioned and voted it up! I do hope that this moves up their priority list, because there is a lot of movement on my campus towards competency based learning, and that is heavily based on singular rubric components

I will check into the other options that you mention, although I am not sure we have the learning mastery gradebook option, as I couldn’t locate it on our canvas site.
