I can access and see my recorded lectures but my students can't. They have an error message when they try to open the recorded presentation or notes.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I believe the issue is that students were not invited. Are you trying to capture your screen? If not, there is an option to just record your web camera. https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13057-how-do-i-record-a-video-using-the-rich-content-editor... is a guide that will show how to do that.
Otherwise, I believe you'll need to invite them to the conference so that the permissions on the recordings work or utilize another tool like screen-cast-o-matic (15 minute limit) and upload that to Canvas. Again, if you do not want to capture the screen, the guide above is very helpful for web cam capture.
Hi, @gbonadonna and welcome to the Canvas community. I need a little bit more information to help. Could you let me know what steps you performed to add the lectures to your course and what tool you might be using for these lectures?
Hi Justin,
I recorded using "conferences".
I didn't invite my students when lunching the conference because I only wanted to record the lecture and have them to access the lectures later on their own time.
The lecture is in recorded conferences and I can access but students cannot.
This is my screenshot

I understand. I did share my screen (actually I was presenting while streaming a ppt). the Video recording doesn't work because I am lecturing on a ppt and the video of myself is not going to do the job in delivering the info, in my case.
Is there a way I can get my video downloaded and uploaded as a file so that students can access it?
The ones you have already created? I don't believe so. The basic version of conferences/bigbluebutton does not allow the videos to be downloaded.
If you are using PowerPoint, you can add the narration to the slide and then export everything to an mp4. That file can then be added to your Canvas course. Learn more about that option here: Turn your presentation into a video - PowerPoint
This would just be voice over the slides -- no video.
OK!
thank you!
