The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
I quite like Speedgrader to mark assignment, it is much more functional, smoother and doesn't have the same glitches as turnitin does for an online marking platform. The only thing i can't find on speedgrader as a quick marks function. This is quite a useful tool as it allows me to have a series of comments that i find myself repeating to many students and instead of having to write them out each time, i can write it once and simply add it it with a click. This is highly useful as it means i can spend more time developing a helpful comment and include links rather that writing it out 60 times when i have to mark 100 of the same assignment. Is there any plans to add this to Canvas Speedgrader??? WOuld be greatly appreciated.
Hello @elen_welch and welcome to the Community! I would like to see similar functionality, and wanted to let you know that this ability is currently in product radar, https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/1751-ability-to-save-and-copy-from-frequently-used-comments-in.... It is a very popular idea with about 500 votes. Although already in radar, you may want to consider adding your vote as well! I am encouraged by this note on the idea from Instructure from 2016,
"Hey Folks!
I hope you noticed our new status. "Under Consideration". It means, we think this is a good idea and despite the fact that we can't get this done in the next 6 months, we're looking for ways to squeeze it in sometime in the future. We'll be working on some designs, will probably have questions for you at some point, and will be hoping some of you on this chain will want to participate in some user testing to make sure we're on the right track to solving this problem. Stay tuned!"
Best wishes!
It is now 2022, almost 2023... any news on whether or not Quick Marks is in the future of Canvas speedgrader?
Hi @JennyGodley ...
You might want to follow the Canvas Product Roadmap - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com) ... as you'll find many things that Instructure is working on. Click on the tabs to see the quarter of the year, and click on the plus sign button to expand for more information. Hope this will be of some help to you!
Has there any progress been made on this request? The initial question was referring to a quickmarks feature as seen in Turnitin.com where instructors can save remarks for individual comments and place them in the paper itself, not just overall feedback as seen in the current stored comments seen on Canvas. If not, how can I make an official request to get it looked at again?
Were you able to find an answer to your question? I am going to go ahead and mark this question as answered because there hasn't been any more activity in a while so I assume that you have the information that you need. If you still have a question about this or if you have information that you would like to share with the community, by all means, please do come back and leave a comment. Also, if this question has been answered by one of the previous replies, please feel free to mark that answer as correct.

It is now 2020. Do y'all have an update on saving grade quick marks in Canvas?
Any updates? This seems like a simple enough edition that would make grading through speedgrader so much smoother.
Very desperate for this feature, particularly in the higher-education sector.
Still no response? Has this function been added since the original post from 2018?
2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022... 2023.... Quick marks in Canvas SpeedGrader, missing one of the essential features that makes grading speedier.
Biggest joke I have ever seen. Basic functionality. Forced to move to canvas after 10 years with moodle. I thought they were bad. Speed grader and the feedback /ability to contact this company is the worst thing I have ever experienced in ed tech and beyond. Maybe ever. 8 years after saying it was highly requested and nothing?!
This would be a major improvement. I've resorted to a text doc that I keep open beside SpeedGrader to copy-and-paste from, but this is far less convenient than having a tool within the system would be. Blackboard had this something like twenty years ago...
