[ARCHIVED] Students become numbers

I am using canvas for teacher, and when my student joined my course, some of them showed up as numbers making Canvas unusable. Please advise.

You need to talk to your school Canvas admin about this!

LOL, I don't have one because I'm using Canvas Free for Teacher.

The students fixed it.

This issue seems to be happening when students use Google to sign-in instead of creating an account manually. I fixed this by having those students login with Google and then they can update their name in their Account settings. This worked for us. Hope it works for you too.
