[ARCHIVED] Subcatalog "Path"

I'm a newbie to catalog, and we're just setting up our catalog infrastructure. We need to add some subcatalogs, but I'm flummoxed by the "path" for the subcatalog. I've tried several different iterations of the path, and keep getting the same error (see attached image). Anyone know how I would determine the URL for the path?

You want the option Domain not path -- that is why you are getting the error. Unless, the path is too complicated.

Try just ending with instructure.com and choosing domain.

Thanks, Jessica! The guide definitely says to add subcatalogs as pathways, but I tried your domain trick, and it worked the first time--I have one subcatalog. Yeah! 

When I repeated the process, however, I received an error message that the domain had already been used (see attached)

You need to call the next one something else. Such as:

umd-agnr.catalog.instructure.com

umd.cis.catalog.instructure.com

So yours would be:

ccconlineed.cis.catalog.instructure.com

Add an extra entry.

You are able to set up your own domains? I have not been able to do that with our catalog instance. When I wanted a separate domain, I had to contact Instructure and they had to approve and activate it.

However, I am able to set up Sub-Catalogs using the pathway. If you go with the Path option, then in the Path Box, you want to add just the wording that you want after the /browse/____. You do not enter the entire URL.

Example:

Main domain:  https://extension.learn.usu.edu 

Sub-Catalog (with Path option):  https://extension.learn.usu.edu/browse/pesticide 

I have also created a Sub- Sub-Catalog using the Path Option: https://extension.learn.usu.edu/browse/pesticide/additionalcategory
