The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
I have noticed that a little while back Screencast-O-Matic added support for chromakey. As Studio is using this tech under the hood for editing, can we expect to see this functionality soon as well?
Info on the feature is here: Remove Your Background with Green Screen (Chroma Key) | Screencast-O-Matic

I also have this question? I've been looking for a good 3rd-party tool to use as a "virtual webcam" that can do the green-screen before it goes to canvas studio and have not had any luck.
Our teachers also want this, so hopefully we can get this deluxe-feature also in Canvas studio.
Is there any public information available on the deal between Instructure and Screencast-o-matic?
Is there any way yet to have a green screen or virtual background in Canvas Studio?
Hello @lalcalay ...
To my knowledge, none of that is yet possible within Studio. I try and keep an eye on the Studio Release Notes (which are not as frequent as Canvas Release Notes) to see what new things might be added to Studio. Also, you might want to bookmark the Studio Guide for current functionality. Hope this helps a bit.
@Chris_Hofer : Where can we request this feature for Canvas Studio?
@aolsonpacheco ...
Feature requests are under the "Roadmap" menu at the top of any page here in the Community. Under the "Idea Conversations" heading, you can click on "Canvas". Here is a direct link to start a new Feature Idea: New Idea - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
