Try testing this tool with real life users? It's possibly the most counter intuitive and frustrating tool I have had the misfortune to use. Incredibly labour intensive, clunky and badly designed.

I'm a parent of a student who has to use it, and both of us are equally befuddled by it. 

Canvas is genuinely one of the worst parts of the pandemic experience.....

I'm so sorry the pandemic experience and learning online has been frustrating - I know many parents (many of my friends) share that same sentiment with you, no matter what software the school is using.  It's a whole new way of doing things for most. 

Is there anything specifically we can help you or your child navigate in Canvas? We do have some guides and videos for students to reference here, but we're also happy to address any specific questions in this forum if you'd like.
