[ARCHIVED] Why can't I unsync assignments from term 1 and 2?

How come I can't unsync assignments from term 1 and term 2.

In assignments, the toggle button won't work for term 1 and 2.  It works for term 3.

Yes I refreshed and it doesn't work in both courses.

Hello  @jennifer_swift ...

I am not sure what you mean by "unsync assignments".  The word "unsync" isn't terminology that I've heard of before in Canvas.  Can you please provide some additional detail on what you are trying to accomplish?  Maybe include a screen shot or two if that will help (being sure not to reveal any student names/grades).  Any additional information from you would be helpful...thanks!

I am having the same problem. I cannot not "Sync" ("Un-Sync") some assignments from previous terms but not others. This is annoying because I have to uncheck all the assignments every time I "Sync" the grades.

Hi,  @jennifer_swift  Welcome to the Canvas Community! Is your school using grading periods for the terms, and are you attempting to sync grades to an external SIS (e.g. Powerschool) from closed grading periods?

 @jennifer_swift ‌ and  @shaun_sommer ‌, it sounds like you're trying to make changes to grading periods that are now closed. Generally speaking, the ability to effect changes to grades in closed grading periods is intentionally disabled to preserve the integrity of the grades that were entered for those periods. If you need to make changes, please contact your respective local Canvas admins or eLearning departments to ask for additional guidance.

stefaniesanders, I am only having problems with about six assignments. I was able to to Toggle Sync or delete the other 30+ assignments. What makes these certain assignments different? Why do these quarter 1 and quarter 2 assignments show up in my quarter 4 Sync and none of my quarter 3?

 @shaun_sommer , I don't have hands-on experience with grading periods, but I wonder if the assignments that are showing up in the Quarter 4 sync have due dates that fall in that quarter. Again, this is best investigated locally, so if you continue to experience difficulty, please contact the local Canvas admin for the district to help sort it out.
