[ARCHIVED] add someone from a different institution as observer

Hi! I would like to add an instructor from a different institution as observer in my course. I have tried with their institutional email address, but it doesn't work. Is there any way to do it? Thanks

Hi @FrancescaYNC 

Are you using a Canvas class in a school owned account? If so, you can ask your school's Canvas admin to create an account for your observer, and then add them as an observer in your course.

Or, are you using a Free-for-Teachers (FFT) Canvas shell? If so, adding the observer using email is the way it is done, and Canvas could care less what school that email is associated with, it just wants a valid email. So if this is your environment, then I suspect there is an error in your email address.
