The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
I'd like to hear from people who use trust relationships with other instances about what you feel is an appropriate use of them, and how much work is involved in maintaining it.
As background, I am the admin of a K-12 institution of around 10,000 kids. I have been asked by a staff member about setting up a trust relationship with the local community college so that our students who are taking classes at the CC will have those classes listed on their landing page in our instance. The numbers vary from year to year, but generally run around 150-250 students per year.
I'd suggest asking your CSM. We looked at trust relationships, but in our case, we are the CC system looking at integration with over 100 districts and it just wouldn't scale in a manageable way. We did implement a couple of Commons Consortia to facilitate content sharing.
