How do I change the font of what I am typing for a post on canvas?

Hi there,  @robin_kohanteb_  Welcome to the Canvas Community!

Unfortunately, there's no way to change the font/typeface that you are using. There might be a way to do it with the HTML editor, but you run into accessibility issues. With that said, using the Rich Content Editor (https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10728-67952720342), you can change the style of your text. You have your standard bold, italics, underline as well as alignment and header options.

Ok then I guess the question is: Why not? When will Canvas have better fonts?

I'm not sure what you mean by accessibility. I work with students with learning disabilities and the suggested fonts are sans serif like Arial. That would make reading text in Canvas more accessible.

If the font is so unpleasant so that the faculty will not post content, then there is a problem.  Faculty need to be able to change the font so that it is acceptable.  Otherwise, we may need to just attach lesson plans as Word documents rather than use the features in the Canvas learning management system.

I may have responded to someone who is not part of the team that can make changes.  In Sakai, I was able to change the font in my Lessons and other parts of Sakai.  It is critical that the fonts be acceptable to faculty; if the fonts are so unpleasant that we choose not to post content in Canvas, then what is the use of the learning management system?  Please give us the option of selecting the font type.

I think some research went into an ideal font that was accessible.

At first it irked me that I didn't have a choice of font. Now I'm grateful. There's enough going on without having to ponder fonts. As @kenneth_rogers  mentioned there are options within the one font to give it a bit of zhoosh. 

I enjoy being creative within Canvas and feel that the font they chose suits the environment.

I posted a video this week that explores some of the font and typography options available in Canvas, both in the Rich Content Editor (RCE) as well as some things we can do in the HTML editor.

Within the RCE, the font family options are available in the Format tab.  It's not the most robust library, but there are a good variety of serif and sans-serif options available.
