So, the 3 dots on the top right hand corner of the course cards is suppose to let us change the color of the course card and move it, but when you click on it, it takes you to the class.
The menu shows up for 1 second and then automatically opens the course.
Hi @wbueno,
I've not heard of an issue like this before. What have you tried so far to troubleshoot it?
In the past, I've had issues with buttons when I've been zoomed in with my browser. You might try zooming out (hold Ctrl and - on a PC or Option, Command, minus on a Mac) or resetting your browser to 100% view.
If that doesn't work, clearing your browser cache might. Can you post again if you're still having issues after trying that?
Hello @kmallen
thank you so much for replying back to me.
I have already tried those steps, as well as ending Chrome task and opening it again.
I have tried changing colors by using my admin account and the tool works, however when I try by acting as the student the issue arises, it is the same when the student tries on his end. Once we click the 3 dots, the course opens and we are only able to see the options for a second.
Regards!
@wbueno, using the keyboard might be an option. You should be able to tab through the links on the dashboard until you get to the three-dot menu. Then press Enter/Return to open the menu and change the color.
Sorry, I don't have a solution for a real fix! Hopefully that suffices as a workaround.
HI @wbueno
The only other advice I would suggest is to make sure your web browser is up-to-date, or try other browsers to see if the issue can be duplicated using them.
Note, you can also change the course card color from the calendar view. While not a fix for the issue, if you really need to change the color, you could do it there.
See this guide.

Hello, I was having the same issue and I tried your suggestion but I noticed that even if you change the color of your course cards from the calendar, It doesn't show up on my dashboard from my laptop but it shows up on the mobile app.
Thank you so much for your help!
I will follow all the advice I have received and let you know how it went.
I am having this issue with the 3 dots in general on my mac. I've been teaching online for 10 years so I've tried all the troubleshooting. For example the 3 dots you click on to give module options... not working. I'm using up to date versions of everything and using google chrome as browser. You would think as long as canvas has been around that these issues would be resolved. Any updates on why this is happening?
Hi there, @beachdays561 ...
If you can hold on for just a couple more days, it looks like Instructure (the folks that make Canvas) will have a fix for those three dots on the "Modules" page ready for deployment on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. This is the document I am aware of that explains the issue:
3 Dots / "Kabob" on Modules and Assignments index ... - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
If after Wednesday it is still not working for you, I would highly suggest reporting it to the Canvas Help Desk staff so that they can investiate further.

I hope this information will be helpful to you! Sing out if you have any questions...thanks!
