How to undo anonymous assignment responses?

Hi

I set up a quiz mixture of multiple choice and essay style questions. When the students submitted the quiz I was unable to review their responses on Speed Grader. 

Instead got a message stating:

'This student has submitted the assignment
This student's responses are hidden because this assignment is anonymous.'

I never made the Quiz anonymous.

How do I rectify this issue?

Hi, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately it doesn't answer my question. I can see the grade and student name, but I cannot see the submission as apparently it's anonymous. Even though I never selected that option. So how do I go about actually seeing the quiz submission?

For classic/legacy quizzes, you can have an anonymous submission if the Quiz Type is set to Graded Survey or Ungraded Survey. For Practice Quiz or Graded Quiz, the anonymous submission option is not available.

To change this, edit the quiz and change the settings.

I haven't tested it in a couple of years, but you could change an anonymous survey to non-anonymous after the students had taken it.

Thanks for the reply - indeed that is correct, unfortunately I do not see that option when the Quiz has been completed.

That is strange. I pulled up an anonymous quiz from 2017 where students had attempted it and I was still able to uncheck the Keep Submissions Anonymous box. When I reloaded the quiz, it showed the name of the student instead of just "Student".

Is your quiz set to Graded Survey or Ungraded Survey?

Is this perhaps a blueprint course where the settings are locked at the higher level and you don't have control over it? The idea behind a blueprint course is to have a master course and then push the changes out to the individual courses, but it can be locked at the master course level. This could also explain why it is anonymous when you didn't make it anonymous.

I found a solution to this, I hope this works for you as well.

If you edit the assignment and change the submission type to a graded survey this will bring up the checkbox to make the submissions anonymous. If you uncheck this box, then change the assignment type back to the type you want, the answers should show up.

This worked for me, hope it helps!

I had the same problem and this solution worked. I simply changed the assignment type to Graded Survey, then unchecked the "keep submissions anonymous box".
