In new quizzes, can you have more than one hot spot?

I'm trying to make graphing questions where students need to plot 3 points to form a triangle and the graph 3 more points to translate the triangle.  Is this possible in new quizzes?

I'm not sure if I'm interpreting your question correctly or not, but I don't think hotspot questions in New Quizzes work they way you are describing.  Are you wanting students to click on different spots within an image?  The purpose of Hot Spot question types is to define an area of an existing image that is "correct".  This Guide gives a great example where Thomas Jefferson is the only person that will be marked "correct".  Clicking on any other part of the image will result in an incorrect answer.  How do I create a Hot Spot question in New Quizzes?

I think you are missing the question.  There are times when you need to choose two hot spots.  Here is a sample STAAR from the Texas State Test:  You are to select two "hot spots" on this question.

No.  Unfortunately, only one hotspot can be defined on a given image for a Hotspot question type in New Quizzes.

I really do not know.  You can follow the Canvas Product Roadmap to get an idea of what Instructure has planned for the future.

But hypothetically, if you import a text or short story and you want students to identify verbs, adjectives etc, how would you add multiple hot spots to one question

As I had indicated in an earlier response, hot spot questions in New Quizzes only allow you to define one "hot spot" per image.  There is no option for multiple hot spots.

I think it would be very useful to have multiple hotspots as well. It should also have partial credit option. Sometime, you need students to mark more than one thing. As a foreign language teacher, I defintely could use this. For example, I give them a weather forecast statement (audio). They then need to indicate which country is mentioned in the statement, and what the weather will be like in that country. It would be presented with a map of countries surrounded by weather icon (see picture for example). They would only receive full credit if they click on both hotspots. And ideally, partial credit, if they click on only one of the two hotspots. I am sure it can be used in other subject as well.

We just had training with our Canvas teacher last week, and the question came up. She said that only one hot spot was possible now, but multiple spots were being considered. I'm not sure if that means 'either/or' or 'and', though.
