In a single Canvas assignment, is it possible to have students submit both a document AND a media recording? When creating the assignment, it's easy to click both types, but Canvas seems to interpret that as 'OR'. When students try to submit, they are only able to submit the document or the media recording - not both.

Hi, @cdhar1 . As far as I know, it's not currently possible to require two different submission types for a single assignment using Canvas functionality alone. However, one could instruct the students to submit a document and media recording and then use the "Text Entry" submission type which would provide the Rich Content Editor and would allow them to submit both a document and a media recording.

Thanks, Adam. To me it looks like this solution can work only if using the New Rich Content Editor not the old Rich Content Editor. Is that correct?
They can definitely do a media recording in the old RCE, How do I record a video using the Rich Content Editor as a student?
Including a document may need an extra step of uploading to a cloud document storage solution:

How do I create a hyperlink from Microsoft Office 365 in the Rich Content Editor as a student?
