Hi @truempt 
There is no notification to other users, when a user changes their profile info, including pronouns. However, you will note that change almost everywhere that the student's name appears. This from the guide..............
These pronouns will display with their username in the following areas in Canvas:
- Act as User Page
- Assignment Creation Menu
- Assignment Peer Review Page
- Comment Fields
- Course Sections List
- Discussions
- Inbox
- People Pages (Account, Course, and Group)
- Student Context Card
- SpeedGrader
- User Navigation Menu
- User Profile
- User Settings
