Shifting assignment dates bakward

How do you shift assignment dates backward in bulk. I know how to shift it forward.

My understanding is the Batch Edit tool will only shift dates forward. 

The next best tool is the Bulk update tool or to drag and drop assignments on the calendar. Though, dragging and dropping on the calendar won't change availability dates, only due dates.

I came here suspecting this was the answer but hoping I was just missing something. This is really disappointing. I have 31 assignments selected that fell after spring break up until what will equate to Thanksgiving week that all have to be moved back 1 week. This should be as trivial as moving forward.

Thanks! I did think of this as a workaround, right after I had copied my spring courses for this fall... lol. I will definitely try to remember it in the future! It's a shame that the obvious functionality of being able to bulk-shift in either direction is not baked in, but until it is, this is probably the best option.
