Survey tool that integrates with Canvas

Hi,

We are looking for a simple, easy to use survey tool that integrates with Canvas seamlessly (users can create and assign surveys to enrolled members on the course and track responses). The main use of this survey tool will be course evaluations but they could use to gather other types of information related to a course.

We are aware that the Quiz tool can be used to create surveys but this is not preferred as they are graded and is not very user friendly.

Any advice on how other universities have addressed this need is greatly appreciated!

Hi @JigmetYangchan 

I think that most schools use one of the many commercial third-party tools that integrate well with Canvas. These are paid services, but unless you have a talented IT team with the resources and time available to develop a home-grown solution, There are many on the market, and the price range varies greatly. Below are just a few examples:

• Explorance
• CampusLabs
• QuestionPro
• ClassClimate by Scantron

There are also some great discussions in this community about the products used by folks.

Thanks Kelley for your response and sharing the examples. I was looking in terms of what solutions other UK Universities using Canvas have implemented and what their experience have been in terms of using these tools. Any insight on that?

Hi,

Having looked at the options you shared earlier, these are all centrally managed survey tools. We are looking for a general survey tool that academics or course administrators can use to create their own surveys for course evaluations or to collect information from students on a particular course. Do you have examples of such tools that can be integrated with Canvas? And if you are aware of any other Universities that have done it already? Thanks in advance.

We've been using Canvas surveys (it can be done without grading in Classic Quizzes), but with that option going away in the next year-ish... we're on the hunt for a new solution.

If you're still looking for alternatives, and especially if your institution is using Qualtrics for research purposes already, it might be worth to check out our Qualtrics integration for Canvas.
