Teacher Upload Student Assignment Submission

Can a teacher upload an assignment document on behalf of a student into a canvas course assignment? One student has emailed me her assignment ?

Hi Nicole,

Unfortunately at this time Teachers cannot upload an assignment for a student unless you have masquerade‌ permissions where you can act as‌ the student and upload the assignment for them that way. Good new is there has been lots of talk about having this feature in Canvas and there is even an idea that has a lot of votes to get it added. From what I can see even masquerading as a student does not allow me to submit an assignment for them. The "submit" button is greyed out and I am the admin for the entire account, so know i have permissions.

@JenniferKolar You may want to make sure the assignment is still active (there was not an "Until" date put in for the assignment) or the course is not concluded.  Even an admin can't submit something if the assignment has been locked or the course is over.  If it is still open, you should be able to submit while masquerading, I do it all the time.  If it is not working for you, it may be worth reaching out to Canvas support as that is something that definitely should work.
