The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December.

I cannot access my course content through Canvas. I can access Canvas. When I do, there are large icons that I can click on, but I cannot access the content I need within the site. Is there an update currently going on or do I need to do something to fix this? Thank you.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Is your course open/available? If your course hasn't stated yet then you might not be able to access any of the content. You can check this by contacting the Instructor to see what should be available. If you should be able to see content in the course then the first thing I would try is switching Internet browsers. The ones that work the best with Canvas are Firefox and Chrome. If you switch to one of these and are still having problems I'd contact your Instructor and Canvas Support (Help link --> Report a Problem).

I've been taking the course the entire Fall 2016 term (finals are next week).
Whether I view Canvas in Firefox or Internet Explorer, it is displayed the same way. Attached is a screen shot of what is displayed when I access Canvas. I will try contacting Canvas Support as you suggested though. Thank you.
I have the same issue now. How did you resolve the problem? Thanks.
Hello @r96359 ...
I've seen that you have been posting to a handful of different topics looking for a resolution. Some of the links that you may have been trying to access were on the old Canvas Community site. While many of the links do re-direct to the new site, some links do not. In those cases, the pages may still exist here in the Community, but the URL is quite different since the transition to the new Community back in August 2020. So, one of the links you may have been trying to access can now be accessed at What to do when Canvas looks 'big' or 'zoomed in'!. If you are still having issues after reading through that blog posting, you will probably want to reach out to Canvas Support. They might be able to suggest some other things to try...including maybe changing a setting or two within your browser(s).
I hope this will be of help to you. Keep us posted on your progress...thanks!
