Understanding the Revision History

I use modules in all my classes to organize all of my assignments, tests, videos, etc. I update the pages throughout the semester when teaching online. I recently had a student to pull an old assignment from a previous semester that was different from the current assignment listed in the module. I check the revision history and could not find the document but she was able to send me a screenshot of the download from her files. Can someone explain how this could happen?

 @mdharris , were the assignment directions on a Page? As far as I'm aware, there is no view page history for assignments. Regardless, if the student got the information from a previosu semester, can't you go back to the previous semester course and see what is on that assignment? So go to where the student is looking? My recommendation is to ask the student for the URL of what they are looking at. As long as you are the teacher, you will be able to view this and see where it's coming from.

Hi  @mdharris  Welcome to the Canvas Community!

Since you have all of your learning content organized into modules, do you also hide the individual content areas that are no longer needed? It might be that the past assignment was still available in your Assignments Index, and just got missed when you updated for the new term.

Thanks for your responses! It helped me to do more research to figure out this mystery. I actually had the submission link for the new assignment attached to the old assignment. I made the corrections and I also unpublished all of the old files associated with previous courses.
