Is it possible to upload a late submission from a student to their assignment so it's linked to them - i.e. if they emailed direct to me instead of uploading it via assignment section? I want to mark it via the speedchecker thing

Hi Rachel,
Unfortunately at this time Teachers cannot upload an assignment for a student unless you have #masquerade permissions where you can #act as the student and upload the assignment for them that way. Good new is there has been lots of talk about having this feature in Canvas and there is even an idea that has a lot of votes to get it added. You can read about the request and what others have said about it here. (https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/1124-submit-an-assignment-on-behalf-of-a-student?messageTarget...)

Sorry to say, but this makes Canvas LMS quite inflexible compared to e.g. Gradescope.
This thread is old. Canvas added the ability to submit assignments for students in March 2023, but it must be enabled by your Canvas administrator. Here is the documentation from the Canvas Instructors Guide: How do I submit an assignment on behalf of a student as an instructor?
