With the decommissioning of the personal platform, our institution has decided to roll out the subscribed version of Canvas credentials. The most pressing issue that I have now is that my currently running courses are associated with my personal issuer. And, I would like to simply reassociate them with my institutional issuer (same email) to start immediately awarding the badges under my institutional issuer instead of my personal one. I have already created the new badges under my institutional issuer.
But, I can't seem to find a way to do that. The badges that load in Canvas by default are associated with my personal issuer and I can't seem to find a way to change the issuer associated with the course.
Honestly, I think it would be helpful to just have a step-by-step guide that is called something like, "Migrating from a Personal Account to a Paid Account" that includes most of the common steps required to move all of your stuff to the other account. Since, it seems quite likely that many personal accounts wouldn't just upgrade to paid accounts, they would become participants in an institutional plan, moving forward.
Hi @blee! I think you may need an admin to help you with this or to get help from the support team. However, first take a look at How do I merge my Canvas Badges/Credentials account? . To get support, refer to How do I get help with Canvas Badges/Credentials? I agree that maybe a straightforward guide for migrating from a personal account to a paid account is needed. - Jen
Hi @blee , there are a couple of steps that you can take to have your paid organization administrator/owner add your existing free issuer underneath the organization.
First, add the organization owner/admin email with an owner role in your personal issuer.
Then, the organization owner will have an option under the organization issuer space to add an existing issuer to the organization.
This will pull in your previous, personal issuer. From there, it's just a matter of making sure that the staff/user permissions are set correctly.
Hope that helps!
Josh
