I have gone into my account settings a changed administrative notifications to "Notify immediately", after doing this I had a coworker enroll in a catalog listing for a canvas course using a promocode we made to bypass payment for testing. I never received a notification. I typically get a notice from Microsoft when incoming emails are held in quarantine, but so far nothing.
@ChristopherRice Currently there isnt a way to get notifications from Catalog.
I am talking about notification from Canvas when a student enrolls in a Canvas course via a Catalog listing. As the screenshot I provided indicates, the administrative settings for notifications claim to include enrollments.
Hi there. Did you get any feedback from support on this? I was thinking as an interim solution you could build some reports using CD2 that you can check each day for enrolments, but I do think it's odd that it doesn't trigger a notification in the course.
@ChristopherRice I would reccomend asking support about this.
@ChristopherRice I was experiencing the same issue. It looks like Instructors are not notified when a student self-enrolls - there's an * at the bottom of the Administrative Notifications table here that makes note of that. That would explain why Catalog enrollments don't generate a notification in Canvas. 🙁
This is a great question, not just admins, but what about Instructors too? For self-paced courses do Instructors needs to just wait for an assignment to be submitted to get a notification about (they do, right) to find out that a new participant enrolled in the course?
Granted, I'm thinking most self-paced courses probably are designed with no instructor interaction, right? But we're still having instructors provide feedback on assignments but there's no scheduled classes/meetings.
