Instructor Information Field
Summary
Catalog supports a dedicated Instructor field in the course listing editor. Institutions can clearly display who is teaching each course, display instructor names on listing cards and detail pages, and allow learners to filter by instructor on the Catalog homepage.
Change Benefit
This update introduces a consistent solution for displaying who is teaching each course, helping learners make more informed enrollment decisions while improving the overall discoverability of course offerings.
Feature Workflow
Catalog admins can easily add instructor names to listings.
View Instructor Filter
An instructor filter is available on the Catalog homepage, enabling learners to refine their search based on instructor name. The filter supports multi-selection, making it easier to find courses taught by trusted or familiar educators.
Additionally, any changes made to an instructor’s profile in Canvas automatically syncs with Catalog. However, if the name or user is deleted in Canvas, that change is not synced to Catalog.

Search Fields Character Update
Summary
Catalog search fields accept two-character inputs instead of the previous three-character minimum.
Change Benefit
This update improves accessibility and usability by allowing searches for valid two-character names (e.g., “Ng,” “Li,” “Jo”) and other short inputs. It removes unnecessary friction, aligns Catalog with Canvas LMS search behavior, and reduces the need for manual data filtering workarounds.
