Good Morning! We are having trouble importing a course into CC. It's just one module, and it only contains a page - an uploaded SCORM file created with Articulate Rise. It's an OER interactive textbook. Because it has been such a bear even with several suggested fixes, I was wondering if I could just upload the SCORM to Canvas Commons?
Solved! Go to Solution.
@llg0011 Unfortunately you cannot upload a SCORM to Commons but you can download the course and import that to Commons with the SCORM file in it.

I tried downloading the course (with SCORM files, among others) and importing into Commons. I then downloaded the course and uploaded it into another course shell. The files came through, but the SCORM files still generate an error message. "File not found." If you have any other ideas on how to get SCORM files to copy it would be greatly appreciated.
@william_batlle I recommend submitting a support ticket to Instructure.
Thanks for the reply. How do I submit a support ticked to Instructure?
Through your Canvas instance.
Hi, did you hear back from Instructure? I'm in the process of testing the same thing and was just wondering what you found out 🙂
I worked with support over two weeks or so. I think some of it was AI, but I did eventually get to chat online with a person in support. The final response was that SCORM is not native to Canvas so it will only function as an "add-on." The result of this is that I would always have to upload and set up every single SCORM video. There will never be a way to copy such videos to other courses.
On my own I tried putting the videos in modules, on pages in modules, and I tried copying every way under the sun, including copying the entire course. The copy or the new course would always generate a "Page Not Found" message when clicking on the SCORM video.
I may try experimenting with using a Moodle LMS, as SCORM is native to Moodle, or so I believe.
If you can ever make SCORM files copy, please do post about it. If I come up with a way to make this work on Moodle, I could post about it as well, but I seriously doubt that I would be able to link the grades; I would have to manage them separately.
Best regards,
Bill
Thanks, Bill - I'll post if successful and let you know what process we used.
