Allow regrade after changing quiz question points

This idea has been developed and deployed to Canvas

Sometimes an instructor will create a quiz question and accidentally make it worth zero points. This happens most often when using an exam-creation tool like ExamView or Respondus. It's an easy error to make.

When the instructor realizes it, it is usually after a student has taken the quiz and the score comes back unreasonably low. It's because many questions were right but worth zero points. Canvas lets the instructor change the point values after the fact, but forces a manual regrading (via speedgrader) of every question for every student who has already taken the quiz.

Why not allow a regrade of the entire quiz with the new point values?

This would also allow instructors to change point values after the fact (make a question worth less and another worth more) based on statistical data on how students performed on certain questions.

I don't know how many students you have, but I only have 250 this

semester. I have had as many as 600 between 2 sections. Manual re-grading

is simply not an option.

It is absolutely ridiculous that this feature even needs to be voted on.  Come on Canvas, get with it!

Here is one more thing with quizzes, the total point value for a quiz should have its own setting.  So if I wish to change the point value of a quiz or exam, I would not have to change each question's point value.

Almost 3 years since the original post ... still can't regrade a quiz after changing points for a question.  Some posts say it is in beta for quizzes.next, but the beta was no very successful from our testing.  This promise for "quizzes.next" is taking forever.

Hi  @sbailey

This idea is marked complete.  You can find more information in this comment.

Feature development is not active in the original quizzing tool, so this will only be available via quizzes.next.  If you haven't looked at it in a while, you may want to give it another go.
